It depends. In some regions, they are preferred. In other regions, they are mandatory. In North America, they are not standard practice, and should be avoided unless your appearance is directly relevant to the job.

That said, even in North America, there are times when you’d be better off using a photo resume or CV. For example:

• If you happen to be an actor or actress, fashion model, or television personality, then your appearance matters to employers.
• If you know the recruiter personally, a photo resume might be a good idea. In this case, you’ve leapfrogged over the ATS and are ready to leverage your personal connection with the recruiter.
• If you’ve already secured an interview, handing in a photo resume after your interview might help you seal the deal – especially if the interview went well.

If this all sounds confusing, don’t worry. If you attach your photo at the checkout process, you will get two versions: a standard resume, and a photo resume – just in case you need both. Ultimately, no matter which package you’ve chosen, you can rest easy. We’ve got you covered.

No. All our resumes, CVs, and cover letters are written from scratch and customized to your respective experience. We do not use any templates, programs or 3rd party websites to create our resumes.

Many templates, programs and websites deliver attractive designs, but they often fail the ATS test. Graphics, logos, graphs & tables, unconventional fonts & formatting, and other design elements are guaranteed to confuse some versions of the ATS – drastically reducing the odds of having your resume read by recruiters. The only way to guarantee 100% ATS compatibility is to do it ourselves – and ditch all the bells and whistles.

When it comes to CVs and resumes, conservative is best. Stick to a conventionally-formatted word document that is easy to read. The algorithms and recruiters will both appreciate it, and reward you for it.
